The Omnis Deployment Tool

Customizing your application for deployment

Overview:

While he has attended 2 Euromnis conferences over the last few years, this is the first time he will be speaking; alongside his boss and mentor, Mike Matthews.   Their topic is about application customization and deployment using the omnis deployment tool.

In this session, Reuben shares his insights and practical experiences using the built in studio deployment tool that has been around for a few years.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Where the studio deployment tool can be access from
  • What things you need to set up to make it work
  • How first run install folder is built and customized.
  • The effects of the various parameters for the tool, and any gotcha’s
  • The meaning of various icons in the icon folder and what you can add as custom icons to your application (rather than put them in #ICONS using the omnis icon editor).
  • Why the new studio 11.2 structure makes siging easier on MacOS and speeds application startup.
  • How to actually set up your apple code signing identity on the apple developer web site
  • Difference between mac and PC versions

While it is possible to use an API to control the deployment too, this session will not cover that feature.

Why you should attend

If you make applications, they need to be deployed and this tool helps save you time and do most of the things you need done to make your application so that it adheres to the rules on each platform.
